Groom’s Guide to Honeymoon Planning

Chris Easter

Wedding planning has consumed you for the past several months. You have spent endless nights going over details and arrangements. On more than one occasion you‘ve probably wondered if the stress will ever end. Well, you can breathe easy because it does. A week of relaxation, dining, cocktails, and yes — sex — await you after the big day.

If you haven’t decided where the honeymoon will be, here are a few questions you may want to ask yourself:

  • Do we want to go somewhere on the beach? The mountains? Overseas? Cruise?
  • What’s the budget?
  • How long can we be gone?
  • Do we want to go somewhere neither of us has ever been?
  • Do you want a more leisurely or active honeymoon?
  • Do we want to go all-inclusive?

Going over these questions with your fiancé will get your creative juices flowing. It’s very important that you’re both 100% comfortable with the decision. The last thing you need is second thoughts after the trip has been booked.

Here are some common tips that most couples wish they had considered before choosing their honeymoon destination:

  • Why not go all-inclusive? These resorts can be easy on the pocketbook, and allow you to travel back and forth to other company properties at no extra charge. All food, drinks, and services are included in the price.
  • If you’re planning on going to the Caribbean, consider hurricane season, which runs from June 1st to November 30th .
  • Talking to other couples who have been to the same destination can be a great help! There’s no underestimating word of mouth.
  • If you’re leaving the country, be sure to know exactly where your passport is. If you don’t have one, get one NOW! The process of getting one is becoming longer and longer. If you wait too long, you may be out of luck.
  • Call ahead and have the resort place flowers, rose petals, and wine in the room ahead of time. When you arrive, your bride will be amazed!
  • The resort office should be able to assist you in planning all of your activities. This will help minimize stress and make the trip much more enjoyable.
  • Consider a destination wedding which allows you to hold the wedding and honeymoon at the same location.

TMR Recommendation: If you take the time to go over these points with your fiance now, you can ensure that the honeymoon planning process will be less stressful.

Since 2008, we’ve been the go-to site for personalized, unique groomsmen gifts and wedding tips for men. We’re also proud to be the original groom’s gift registry.

I reached out to The Man Registry on a Saturday, just 7 days before my wedding, asking for help with my groomsmen gifts. I heard back within an hour and was able to get 8 personalized coolers in just 3 days. Ordering was easy and the quality was top notch. Would highly recommend The Man Registry!
